Understanding Childhood Trauma and Living a Powerful Life
What is Trauma?
How much of it is present in our own lives?
And what can we do to lessen the impact?
Paula Abbott LPCS RPT NCC and Trauma Informed Therapist will lead a training designed to help us understand Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and the impact childhood trauma has on our lives.
Paula will gently lead us through safe activities that build our understanding of trauma and presents customized solutions for healing trauma and reducing our children’s trauma score.
As the counselor and Social Emotional Learning Advisor for the Vessel and Unity Learning Community, Paula will also be sharing the first steps we will utilize as we build our program that will serve our 5th and 8th graders who struggle with learning and reading.
Join us for this free community workshop!
(Space is limited to the first 40 attendees. )

It’s Time to Create the Leaders of Tomorrow!
Here at The Vessel we believe in the power of education. We are in the early stages of development with a program that intends to provide outside of school mentoring and tutoring services to our area’s kids. We are seeking the input of parents, teachers, advisors, counselors, or administrators.
If you are interested in getting involved, please fill out one of the forms below. We look forward to hearing from you!
For Parents:
It takes a village to raise a child. Here at the Vessel that is at the core of who we are. We know just how complicated it can be to raise children in our modern world because, well - we are parents, too. We are working diligently to develop a powerful village of engaged professionals to provide our kids with the resources they need to thrive in every aspect of their lives. If you would like for your kids to be involved in a FREE program like this, please let us know by filling out the form below. We respect your privacy. Rest assured that your information will remain private with the Vessel.
For Teachers:
We are building a program that will offer an innovative approach to developing a student’s ability to build knowledge, make meaning, and apply understanding to the topics they are seeking assistance with. We intend to offer teacher stipends, workshops, mentor support, and an active collaborative environment. We are seeking experienced educators, counselors, and institutions that would like to explore this idea with our Educational Advisory Team. Please fill out the form below to let us know that you are interested in our program!

Community Projects
It is often said that “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” This principle maintains that an equitable society should consider the “whole” before (or at least in parallel with) the perception of each of its individual parts. Simply stated, we do things better with a team. Together, everyone achieves more.

Youth Projects
Every kid deserves the best chance at success, and we strive to send them back to school with everything they need. We strive to provide every child with the school supplies, haircuts, jackets, and nutrition they need to return from each break from school prepared and excited to learn.

Tremaine Brown 2023 Man of the Year.
“Tremaine is the epitome of a community leader. He ensures that everyone in the city is taken care of. His heart extends past any building or city limits. He dreams of the impossible and makes it happen. If we had a community of Tremaines, change would be inevitable. We should do all we can to support his vision, work, and heart." — Melodie Graves, Community Leader and President of the Amarillo NAACP
